Apple acknowledges problems with some iPhone 7/7 Plus microphones
According to MacRumors reports, Apple acknowledged that when running iOS 11.3 or later systems, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus microphones stop working.
After upgrading to iOS 11.3 or using the speaker function, the user will not be able to hear the sound when making a FaceTime video chat or a regular call with the affected mobile phone.
According to an internal document sent to an authorized service provider, the service technician will ask the user to first disconnect the affected handset from any audio accessory. If the problem persists, an audio diagnostic test will be run on the affected handset. If the affected device has a pop-up message saying “device could not detect dock” or “accessory not supported” the authorized service provider will repair the affected phone.
According to reports, it is worth mentioning that if the affected handsets have passed the warranty period, Apple will allow authorized service providers to provide an additional repair service for the affected handsets.
Users affected by the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus can make an appointment with the Apple via the Contact Apple Support page: iPhone → Repairs & Physical Damage → Unable to Hear Through Receiver or Speakers → Built-in Speaker → Bring In For Repair.
