Microsoft releases KB4100403 patch for Windows 10 April Update to fix Intel and Toshiba SSDs error
Following Patch Tuesday (17134.48), two weeks ago, Microsoft released a second incremental update of the Windows 10 April Update today, which fixes issues that previously plagued Intel and Toshiba SSD users. After you apply the KB4100403 patch, your Windows 10 system version number will rise to 17134.81. If the system is not automatically updated, you can also manually download it.
Windows 10 Build 17134.81 fixes the following issues:
- Addresses an issue in Internet Explorer that might cause communication between web workers to fail in certain asynchronous scenarios with multiple visits to a web page.
- Addresses additional issues with updated time zone information.
- Addresses an issue where closed-caption settings are preserved after upgrade.
- Addresses a reliability issue that may cause Microsoft Edge or other applications to stop responding when you create a new audio endpoint while audio or video playback is starting.
- Addresses an issue that may cause Windows Hello enrollment to fail on certain hardware that has dGPUs.
- Addresses an issue with power regression on systems with NVMe devices from certain vendors.
This cumulative update contains several known issues (such as Intel and Toshiba SSDs), and Microsoft recommendation is to wait until May 25 to manually install the Windows 10 April Update update.
After that, Windows 10 Build 17134.81 will be included in the installation and users should not encounter the same problem again. For those who have already run the 1803 version, you can continue to use Windows Update.
