Microsoft push the emergency KB4099950 update for Windows 7 to fix NIC problem
Today, Microsoft once again released an update for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 — KB4099950, but it was an urgent repair patch for the two previously released KB4088875 and KB4088878 updates. A new Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) that has default settings may replace the previous NIC and cause network issues.
Microsoft stated that if this problem occurs, the static IP address settings will be lost. Both the physical network card and the virtual network card created by VMWare may have this problem. Although the update released today fixes the issues in the previous two updates, users must install the KB4088875 and KB4088878 updates before installing KB4099950.
Currently supported operating system versions are available through the Windows Update method, but users can also download manually through the Microsoft Update Catalog website.
