New OneNote interface is rolling to users
Under the promotion of UWP in Office 2019, Microsoft has recently released the new interface of UWP version OneNote, and other core applications of Office 2019 will follow up later. First, Microsoft is eager to further enhance the efficiency of the entire set of productivity tools. The new menu design highlights most of the standard operations and is easier to use on the newly adjusted Ribbon toolbar.
Before the official launch of the Office 2019 Productivity Suite, Microsoft hopes to use the OneNote UWP application as a pilot to collect more feedback and suggestions from users on the new interface, which will lead to more significant improvements. In April of this year, Microsoft announced that this year’s Office 2019 will no longer pre-install this traditional application in the office suite, and will promote the “OneNote for Windows 10″ application in UWP form in the future.
Now, OneNote 2016 terminated. Microsoft will still provide downloads for the app and will continue to support it until October 2025. However, Microsoft has placed its focus on OneNote for Windows 10 in the future, and it is expected that several heavyweight features will launch this summer.

OneNote project manager William Devereux said, “Over the last year and a half we’ve added more than 100 of your favorite OneNote 2016 features based on your feedback (thank you!), with more improvements on the way including tags and better integration with Office documents.”
But for OneNote 2016 users, the good news is that Microsoft will not force users to switch to OneNote for Windows 10 applications, and the company promises to provide some updates for the desktop version this summer, bringing some new features.
The OneNote UWP app allows users to insert and search for tags and view real-time previews of Office files online in Notepad. All Class Notebook features that have been online in OneNote 2016 will be integrated into UWP apps.
