Windows 10 introduces new cloud clipboard function: you copy content across your devices
At the Build 2018 Developer Conference that opened this week, Microsoft released the cross-device content sharing application, Your Phone is one of the few consumer-grade new features. This application is to use the Microsoft Graph API to bring “Seamless Synchronous Connection” to smartphones (Android and iPhone), which is the Cloud Clipboard concept proposed by Microsoft in 2017.
In the Windows 10 Build 17666 version update that was launched today, Microsoft officially introduced the Cloud Clipboard function for Windows 10 to facilitate users’ repeated copy/paste and query of previously pasted content. In this version, users can access via Win+V shortcuts, supporting plain text, HTML, and images.
Note: Roamed text on the clipboard is only supported for clipboard content less than 100kb. Currently, the clipboard history supports plain text, HTML and image less than 1MB.
Your Phone app and the Cloud Clipboard Cloud Clipboard concept have similar feature updates but operate differently. In Your Phone application, users can seamlessly synchronize messages, notifications, and photos between mobile phones and PCs; while in the cloud clipboard, users can obtain a keyboard-based copy and paste functions, mainly between PCs and PCs.
