Windows 10th Anniversary (version 1607) reaches End of Support period
Following the extension of the support period for the Windows 10 version in February this year, multiple Windows 10 versions reached the end of their lives during the Patch Tuesday event. Users who are still using Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607) will no longer receive new cumulative updates in the future.
The Windows 10th Anniversary Update was released in August 2016 and has received full 20 months of support. We recommend that you still upgrade to the newer version as soon as possible. This version adjustment does not involve users who still use Windows 10 Enterprise Edition and Windows 10 Education Edition. These users will continue to support until October 9.
The November update of Windows 10 was released two years and five months ago. It stopped supporting in October last year, but today the Windows 10 corporate/education version also stopped supporting today.
Microsoft stated: “Windows 10 version 1607 (Anniversary Update) will arrive at the end of the service on April 10, 2018, and receive its final security update. If you see that the latest version is ready to be installed, we recommend that you follow the steps to select Update time or update immediately.” According to Microsoft’s 18-month support policy, Microsoft has stopped supporting the Windows 10th Anniversary Update, but it is worth mentioning that in the computer for LTSC (Long-term Service Channel) registered for the enterprise, security update Will continue to publish.
Stopping the use of the older version of Windows 10 after 18 months is part of Microsoft’s Windows as a Service push, which relies on half-yearly channels and releases two feature updates each year. This means that running the latest version of Windows 10 guarantees continuous support, but for businesses, moving to the latest version is not always an easy task. However, when the anniversary update is set to support end, only one option is available: Upgrade to a newer version or no longer get updates.
