Google Lens will be landing more Android devices
Since its launch in May last year, Google Lens has been considered the future of search. Different from the traditional search method of inputting keywords, the user only needs to pick up the camera, and Google can automatically search for the content related to the lens object. For example, if you position the lens on the book cover, users know where it can be bought nearby, as well as publishers, user reviews, and more about the book. Aiming the camera at a painting will tell you the name of the artist and the history of the artwork.
However, there are not many users currently using Google Lens, because this APP is Google Pixel device exclusive. According to the latest IDC statistics, this phone sales are not optimistic, last year’s shipments of just 3.9 million.
Now Google plans to expand the use of this application. On Friday, the company announced it will provide this device for more devices. In an interview Thursday, Aparna Chennapragada, project manager for Google Lens, said: “The product development is inseparable from algorithms, data and user feedback, and you have to find some entry point, but our thinking is how to This application extended to more users or devices?
On Friday, the company said Google Lens will come online in the latest version of the Google Photos app for Android and iPhone (iOS 9 and later), but for now, it only supports English.
Google Lens also logs in to more devices through the Google Assistant app, including the flagship phones from Samsung, Huawei, LG, Motorola, Sony and HMD / Nokia. Currently available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, Australia, India, France, Italy, Spain, and Singapore, but only in English.
