In this month’s Patch Tuesday event day, Microsoft released a cumulative update for the Windows 10 April 2018 update — KB4284835. The official KB page only shows that there is a known issue that has nothing to do with the installation failure. However, there have been user feedbacks since the online that the installation failed. At present, Microsoft officials have not admitted it.
Many users describe the problem on Microsoft’s forum
“There were problems installing some updates, but we’ll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:
2018-06 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4284835) – Error 0x800f0900″
I tried the troubleshooter found in the setting menu, it did not work. I tried running command-line commands under admin, posted on this forum and other helpful sites, they did not work.
In Microsoft‘s official support community, Reddit community, and social networking sites, there was feedback from users saying they could not install the KB4284835 update. Almost all of the error symptoms are the same. KB4284835 will either show that the installation failed and then roll back, but it will be black after startup. Or it will show that the installation was successful, and then it will continue to ask for a reboot to complete the update.
